Membership
To get
started racing at Tampa Bay QMRA and throughout the country
racing quarter midgets is very simple. All participants must
be a club member and a member of Quarter Midgets of America.
A membership application must be fill out, the appropriate
funds paid and returned to the treasure or secretary of
TBQMRA.
Quarter
Midget Racing is designed for kids from the age of 5-16 year
of age. Training can begin as young as 41/2 years old.
All drivers must complete a novice training program before
actually getting on the track to race. Once the novice
program has been completed then the driver will begin racing
on a weekly basis in the appropriate novice class, either
Junior Novice or Senior Novice depending on age. The
novice training director will give the final approval as to
when your driver is ready to move up into the competitive
classes we race at TBQMRA.
Ambassador
Racing provides a training program for a nominal fee. Class or
individual lessons can be accommodated. These classes will
provide your child an opportunity to drive a real Quarter
Midget Race Car. The training fee includes insurance and use
of a car for four (4) training sessions and experience adult
trainer. (JR Garcia) A new driver is taught how to pass, the
meaning of the flags as well as the flagman's signals, how to
line up to begin or restart a race, and what to do in common
emergency situations. Although the student is taught these
racing basics, the real focus of the training is SAFETY, and
is not intended to produce a seasoned racecar driver. This
will come from seat time racing in their own car against other
new drivers within their age group.
